With the increase in online shopping every year, you can bet that there will be some great Amazon Black Friday 2017 sales! Get predictions from the biggest name in online shopping including start dates, product predictions, and more promotions.
When to expect the Amazon Black Friday ad
Amazon will release official details through a press release showing select prices for specific products, sales, and start times less than days before Black Friday. Based on last year’s release date, these details should be available by November 15, 2017. Amazon does not release a Black Friday ad in the traditional sense, which normally shows several pages of products and prices.
Prior to releasing Black Friday sale details, Amazon will release their Top 100 toys and full holiday toy list along with a full selection of 800-1000 popular toys for holiday shopping. The list will be available within the first two weeks of October.
When, where, and how to shop:
Every year, the Amazon Black Friday sale is hosted during a week-long sale event known as Black Friday Deals Week lasting from the Friday before Thanksgiving until Black Friday. Black Friday deals week for 2017 will last from Friday, November 17 through Black Friday on November 24.
Prior to Black Friday Deals week, Amazon offers “Countdown to Black Friday Deals Week” offers throughout November. After Black Friday, Amazon will continue with Cyber Monday Deals Week and will continue select Black Friday offers through December and the holiday season.
During Black Friday deals week, Amazon will release new deals all day, every day as often as every five minutes. These flash deals will only be available for a limited number of hours, then once the sale ends, the product goes back to its original pricing. Prime members can access these sales 30 minutes earlier than non-Prime members. By doing this, Prime customers can further ensure that the best deals do not sell out for them due to their membership.
Each day, there will be at least one Gold Box Deal of the Day offer, which will last for 24 hours starting at midnight Pacific Time. This can include one product, a selection of products from either a single brand or category, and even multiple deals of the day including offers that require an Amazon Prime membership.
The main competitor to Amazon is Walmart, and since 2015 Walmart has offered their “Dare to Compare” sale that started out as a direct selection of products price-matched to Amazon as often as every few minutes (now includes Best Buy, Target, Home Depot, and Toys R Us/Babies R Us). Many of these products will include an in-store pickup discount that matches the Amazon sale price. Because of this Amazon may be more aggressive with their deal pricing.
New to Amazon shopping last year, shoppers will once again be able to use an Alexa-enabled device to get exclusive savings through voice shopping. Last year during their pre-Black Friday promotion, Amazon offered $5 in credit for ordering Alexa exclusive offers for the first 25,000 customers. Amazon offered free $10 credit for Prime Day in July, 2017 for purchasing Alexa exclusive offers. This year, Amazon will offer a $10 credit to all Alexa shoppers lasting through Black Friday.
You can find all Amazon Alexa-enabled devices here.
Finally, Amazon Prime Rewards Visa Signature credit card holders get 5% back on all items sold by Amazon so that will definitely come in handy during your Black Friday shopping haul. Amazon Prime Rewards Visa card has no annual fees along with attractive perks like no foreign transaction fees. Not a Prime member? Everyone else can get similar perks with the Amazon Rewards Visa Signature card.
What will be the best Black Friday deals in 2017?
Price wars between big brand retailers including Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy, and Target mean that while they fight, you win! You can expect these deals to include 4K TVs, laptops, iPads & Kindles, iPhones & Android devices, PS4, Xbox One, and of course the Amazon Echo and other Alexa-enabled devices.

In 2017, the meaning of high definition has changed. 1080p resolution HDTVs are an older technology while Ultra-High Definition (UHD) 4K TVs have become the standard. This means both that 1080p TVs are low in price by default and 4K HDTVs are a lot more affordable. During Black Friday, it's recommended that when getting a larger screen, you go with 4K, especially if your viewing distance isn’t far. Higher quality TVs will have a higher contrast ratio for a higher quality picture. Smart TVs are popular, but make sure that the type you get includes the streaming service that you want. For example, Chromecast enabled TVs do not allow streaming of Amazon video content.

It doesn’t get much more popular than laptops on Black Friday! These are often the first deals to sell out from Amazon, which can be frustrating when waiting for those lightning deals and finding them gone within seconds of going live. The best deals will start around $200. While the price will go up, it is recommended that you get a 1080p resolution laptop and possibly a higher resolution laptop depending on the screen size. Laptops with Intel processors including i5 and i7 will be most desired. Depending on your needs, hard drives will start at 250GB, however a solid state drive will offer the best performance.

iPhones and Android devices used to offer a heavy discount with a service contract. These days, however, this option is not available like it once was. Because of this, sellers on sites like Amazon and eBay are thriving by selling unlocked and brand new devices cheaper than the manufacturer and the wireless provider. For refurbished items, you can expect at least a 20% reduction from the predictions of new prices.
